About Us

The Harford County Public Schools operates 54 public education facilities and various administrative buildings. HCPS facilities total approximately 6 million gross square feet of space. The Office of Operations is charged with the management of the departments and functions responsible for the activities associated with the delivery of the following services to students, employees and the general public:

  • Capital planning
  • Community use of school facilities
  • Facilities operations and maintenance
  • Property Management
  • School design and construction
  • School and outside organization sponsored projects
  • Student transportation


Operations

Use of School Facilities

The use of Harford County Public School's facilities is managed in accordance with Section 7-108 of the Education Article of the Maryland Annotated Code.

Application for use of an HCPS facility must be submitted through the HCPS’ Use of Facilities Online module (UOF Online). UOF Online is a web-based application through which requests for building use are submitted and processed electronically. UOF Online can be accessed by clicking on the access portal below.

School Sponsored Projects

HCPS and its students have benefited greatly from projects that have been sponsored and funded by various community organizations external to Harford County Public Schools. Under the scenario that an external organization proposes to make improvements to a school facility the requirement becomes the responsibility of the local school community.

The evaluation and approval to proceed with any proposed improvement is coordinated under the HCPS School/Organization Sponsored Project process. School Sponsored Project forms are provided below and must be completed and submitted for review and approval per the instructions provided.

Facilities

About Us

The Department of Facilities is charged with the management of the divisions and functions responsible for the activities associated with the delivery of the following facilities management services to students, employees and the general public:

  • Building automation systems maintenance
  • Custodial training
  • Environmental services
  • Ground and building maintenance
  • Heating, ventilating and air conditioning maintenance
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Resource conservation and utilities services
  • School planning, design and construction


Facilities Management

The mission of he Facilities Management Division is to provide the best learning environment for students of Harford County Public Schools by providing clean and optimally maintained buildings and grounds.




Planning and Construction

The Planning and Construction Division manages activities related to the Capital Improvement Program for the school system. These activities include the preparation and implementation of State and Local Capital budgets, the planning and administration of school construction projects, maintenance of school facility records, and the procurement and management of HCPS' portable classroom inventory.



Transportation

Harford County Public School buses transport approximately 36,000 children on 500 buses every day to and from school, travelling nearly 42,000 miles daily. The successful completion of this task relies on the shared responsibility of drivers, students, parents, schools, and Transportation.
