Kindergarten Thematic Newsletter

Dear Parents,

We are beginning a new theme called Earth and Space.  During this theme, your child will learn the following concepts:

·        We live on planet Earth.

·        The Moon is our closest neighbor.

·        There are planets in our solar system.

·        The Sun is the center of our solar system.

These are the big books for our theme:

Gravity

As we read our big books, we will focus on the following language arts competencies:

·        Predicting the ending in a story.

·        Creating new endings for familiar stories.

·        Visualizing and retelling a story with a clear beginning and recognizable ending.

·        Continuing to improve technical aspects of writing.  (Spacing, phonetic spelling, punctuation…)

In Mathematics, we will continue a measurement unit and begin a unit covering three-dimensional shapes.
