Dear Parents,

We are beginning a new theme titled Winter Trees.   During this theme your child will learn the following concepts:

·        It is cold in winter. (Use a thermometer)

·        Changes in temperature cause trees to change.

·        Artists depict winter trees using different mediums.

·        Many products come from trees.

We will read the big books listed below.

I Love Snow

As we read our big books we will focus on the following language arts competencies:

·        Uses self-talk and prior knowledge to make predictions.

·        Identifies “the setting” as the time and place in a story.

·        Visualizes true stories and records them through print and pictures.

·        Writes from the left side of the paper to the right and then returns to the left on the next line.

·        Segments words.  (c-a-t)

·        Review sight words and learn new words.

·        Learn more about the letters  C,c G,g, I,I N,n.

In Mathematics, we will learn more about the quantity 8.  We will make combinations of 8 ,  estimate and make patterns.
