Jarrettsville Elementary School
Where the Best...Is Possible!
School Structure:
Our schedule structure is based on teacher teaming and planning, and each team is led by a Team Coordinator.
About our School:
Welcome to over one hundred years of excellence at Jarrettsville Elementary School! Jarrettsville Elementary was constituted as the Jarrettsville Academy in 1902. It served as an elementary and high school through 1949. With the completion of North Harford High School in 1950, Jarrettsville became exclusively an elementary school.
Jarrettsville Elementary School has been recognized by the Maryland Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. In 1997, Jarrettsville Elementary School was selected by Baltimore Magazine as one of “Baltimore’s Best Schools.” Jarrettsville Elementary School was the first school in Maryland to participate in the SAREX Project, in which the students had the opportunity to talk to the astronauts aboard the space shuttle STS-56 Columbia and in 2001 Jarrettsville Elementary was recognized as the Maryland Character Education School of the Year.
Jarrettsville Elementary has a very active PTA consisting of parents, educators, and community members who join together to support our vision of a community-based school where the students, staff, parents, and community work together in a collegial manner to foster an excitement for learning.
Community Involvment:
Our school has a very active PTA, and we have a business partnership committee that meets monthly and actively involves itself in the school. Also, we have an outstanding community volunteer program with nearly 300 participants. Our community volunteers run a Publishing Company which provides our students with an opportunity to publish their work.
