Welcome,
everyone, to the new 2007 – 2008 school year!
I have been SO excited for this year to begin – such
wonderful news to share. Youth’s Academic achievement is but one goal for YBES. I held an assembly for each grade level, grades one through five, to talk with the students about behavior expectations. It is our goal that no student cause another to feel: embarrassed; afraid; or, left out. Parents, I’m including the PowerPoint presentation (or PDF) I walked the children through for you to reinforce at home. We want EVERY student to feel safe, comfortable, and like they belong when at school, which includes the school bus. We can only ensure this practice if we are notified when a student harasses another. If your child experiences a serious sense of embarrassment, fear, or feels left out please be sure the teacher is alerted immediately. If your child experiences being seriously harassed by the same child a second time after the teacher has already addressed the issue, please let me or an assistant principal know about the chronic issue. As you might imagine, we discourage tattling on every little thing, BUT if your child is uncomfortable in school because of another’s behavior, please alert us. We have instructed students to do the following if they are being harassed: Tell the offender to STOP; if the offender continues, Tell an adult at school; if the offender does it again, after the adult has dealt with it, Tell an administrator. |
