AFTER SCHOOL AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

 

Friday Night Recreation and Leisure Program

 

A free recreation program for children and adults of Harford County ages eight and older with disabilities.  This program provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to take part in social, leisure time and recreational activities.  The program also provides respite for caregivers.  It includes arts and crafts, table games, fitness activities and active games.

 

Saturday Gross Motor Development Clinic

 

The purpose of the gross motor development clinic is to provide a gross motor development experience for student with disabilities ages three through twelve, who reside in Harford County.  The Saturday morning program, located at John Archer School, is instructed by two certified physical education teacher with an adapted physical education background and open paraeducator.  The program empathizes the development of gross motor skills into the following areas: static balance, dynamic balance, gross motor planning, body awareness, eye-hand and eye-foot coordination, loco motor skills and strength and endurance.  Public relations information and registration is handled through the Harford County Office of Physical Education with class scheduled and parent contacts is made by the program coordinator. This program has been very successful and is greatly appreciated by the parents of the participants. 

 

Future Links Program

 

     The Harford County Public Schools Future Link Program is a post Secondary transition Program designed to link provide students with opportunities to make community and agency connections, develop daily living skills, develop job readiness skills, explore career opportunities, develop self determination and self advocacy skills and well as other skills that will be needed upon school completion.
