Bel Air Middle welcomes professional archer for the day
On December 12, Bel Air Middle School students welcomed professional archer Mr. Mike Leiter as a special guest speaker. Mr. Leiter, a Fallston resident, presented archery demonstrations throughout the day to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Mr. Leiter shared his knowledge of archery history, the diversity of bow and arrow equipment, and the selected styles of archery shooting available including in indoor, outdoor, field and target archery. He demonstrated his professional target shooting skills by scoring bullseyes and shooting lifesavers from a 20 yard distance.  He also assisted students taking a turn shooting.

Mr. Leiter, a Bel Air High School graduate who has shot competitively for close to 50 years, has won nine National Field Archery titles, including the senior National Championship last year. He told students that anyone can shoot archery and that the sport is enjoying a huge growth in popularity due to the release of the Hunger Games movies. Thank you, Mr. Leiter, for sharing your archery passion with Bel Air Middle students.
