Red Pump Elementary School Makes Fall the Season of Service
Red Pump Elementary School students worked hard this fall to complete three service projects: Wookies Warriors Drive, Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive, and Casey Cares Drive.

The Wookies Warriors Drive was a campaign to collect donations for new and gently used dog and cat products such as food, leashes, bowls, blankets, toys, collars, and many other items for animal shelters in Harford County.  Collections were accepted September 11-29, and the campaign was sponsored by 4th grader Tommy DiCarlo and his mom and Red Pump parent volunteer, Karen DiCarlo.

The Harvest for the Hungry Food Drive began on October 3 and ended on October 27.  Fifty boxes and approximately 841 pounds of food were collected during this time frame. This was a schoolwide effort, but four 5th grade students spearheaded this initiative: Leslie Cano, Quinn DeMennato, Kali Marsalek and Makayla McEvoy.

First Grade Daisy Troop 2495 collected new pajamas for Casey Cares, an organization that helps children with cancer. Fifteen boxes of new pajamas were collected for children of all ages. The drive ran from October 16 to November 3, culminating with a Day of Giving on November 4. Troop leaders Marisa Knefel and Deb Bailey ran this drive with their Red Pump daughters Mina and Violet.

We are so proud of our Red Pump community for their leadership and generosity when it comes to giving to those in need.  Way to go!!!
