Magnolia Elementary hosts its second school musical

Students who participate in the musical theater club in the Magnolia Achievers afterschool program recently read “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” After analyzing the characters and plot, students auditioned for the “Willy Wonka Kids” play. Following much rehearsal time, the students proudly performed for the school body and their families and friends on March 15. In addition, the students performed March 26 at Joppatowne High School.

Special thanks to Stephanie Guzman, Angelina Ingle, Nancy Fannon, Bonnie Oldewurtel, and a host of others for providing this amazing opportunity to Magnolia Elementary School students. This experience provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with the Joppa feeder system. Students visited Joppatowne High School to rehearse and learn about musical theater from high school students.

An added bonus to this whole experience was uniting a former student and teacher. Myles Hamilton, Mrs. Guzman’s former student, returned to assist with lights and provide his stamp of approval on the play. Mrs. Guzman was ecstatic to have Myles, who was her inspiration for wanting to put on musicals, return back to Magnolia Elementary and give back his time to his elementary school.

The Magnolia Elementary School community is proud of our students and the unity shown by all to make this event simply amazing!
