A "wild" collaboration between Homestead/Wakefield Elementary and Bel Air High schools
First grade artists from Homestead/Wakefield Elementary School created works of art inspired by Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are.  Artists had to illustrate their ideas for a new character for the book that incorporated texture, and photographs of their artwork were sent to Bel Air High School.  High school artists then created 3D soft sculptures inspired by the first graders drawings.  Artists used a variety of fabrics, beads, yarn, and more as they created.  Upon completion of both assignments, artists from each building met to share artistic feedback and create artwork together.  First grade artists were surprised by the generosity of the high school artists as they willingly gave their time, efforts, and hard work to the elementary artists so that they have a treasured item to remember this special day. What a great collaborative project between our schools!
