Joppatowne High School AP Student Summer Camp

The Joppatowne High School AP Student Summer Camp participated in a two-part SciTech Student Learning Lab at the Columbus Center in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, through Towson University's Center for STEM Excellence. In part one of the lab, students used a water collection device that allowed them to retrieve water from 3, 5, and 7 meters. The students then recorded pH levels, salinity, and water temperature for their assigned depth, and had a discussion to compare their findings.

In part two of the lab, students used microscopes to analyze sea life on discs that where submerged in the harbor for one year, also at different depths. Students analyzed the various life forms and compared them to discs from other depths.

This two-part lab was a great learning experience for our students!
