BAMS and BAHS Volleyball Day
Students from Bel Air Middle School participated in an assembly and clinic given by the Bel Air High School Varsity Volleyball teams. This yearly event, called Volleyball Day, was held at Bel Air Middle School during each Physical Education class. The purpose for this assembly is to build on the foundation of striking skills introduced in middle school physical education. The sport of volleyball does not have many strong recreation programs for students before reaching the high school level. The teachers, coaches, and players involved introduce higher level skills and game play throughout the assembly. BAMS students were able to participate in three educational stations run by the varsity men’s and women’s players. Stations included the forearm pass, the overhead pass, and the spike. Culminating each assembly was a demonstration of varsity level game play on a regulation court. BAMS students were then eager to join in at the end and attempt to score some points against the varsity players. The high school players presented this assembly six times throughout the day.
