School Structure:

C. Milton Wright High School operates on a four-period day schedule. Students are enrolled in eight classes for the year. Some classes will meet daily for a semester, while other classes meet every other day. This schedule provides longer periods of instruction with fewer class changes.

About our School:
C. Milton Wright High School Mascot

When a visitor walks into C. Milton Wright High School, she knows right away that she is in a very special place. She will be greeted by friendly students, helpful teachers, courteous secretaries, and involved parents. She will see that learning is important when she visits classrooms where students are engaged, teachers are dynamic, and expectations are high. She will see that character is important when she talks to students who are respectful, teachers who serve as role models, and administrators who help students become responsible adults. She will see that fun is important when she cheers for our athletes, applauds for our music and drama students, and joins students during spirit week.

In 2004, the talented and compassionate teachers at C. Milton Wright High helped 80% of the 350 students who took Advanced Placement tests in 11 subjects score at the level of 3 or higher. Those teachers helped the Class of 2004 earn a composite SAT score of 1095. Their support of their students resulted in an attendance rate of 94.3% and a dropout rate of only 1.25%. Their instruction allowed every group of students tracked by the No Child Left Behind act to exceed the targets established by the state and federal governments. Their caring allowed several students with severe disabilities to graduate with their classmates.

There is an old-fashioned pride and spirit in C. Milton Wright High and in the community that reminds many of "the way things used to be." This is a large school where each student is known by at least one caring adult. It is a large school where it is easy to get lost, but not for long.

Community Involvment:

CMW is the center of social life for the vast majority of students. There is significant parent and community support for the school. The PTSO meets monthly; conducts fundraising; and contributes to field trips, assemblies, equipment purchases, and support for special school programs. Booster clubs have also been formed to support the athletic program and the band.

School activities, including the work experience program, the newspaper, and numerous other activities are supported by local business sponsors. CMW students are learning to give to their community. Students teach art and foreign languages at elementary schools, and they are involved in environmental projects on and off campus. Students are encouraged to be involved in church organizations, scouting, and volunteer positions, such as offering their time to nursing homes and hospitals.
