School Structure:

Havre de Grace High School operates on a four-period day schedule. Students are enrolled in eight classes for the year. Some classes will meet daily for a semester, while other classes meet every other day. This schedule provides longer periods of instruction with fewer class changes.

About our School:
Havre de Grace High School Mascot

Havre de Grace High School is a place with vision, rich with energy and enthusiasm, and high expectations. We have promoted self worth and dignity within our student population and infused through curriculum and extracurricular activities knowledge, understanding, acceptance, and appreciation of our individual differences.

The committed, industrious faculty proved that excellence for all is a realistic and attainable expectation. The strategic planning process which includes administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and our business community is used to insure success for all students. Havre de Grace High and its community embrace the notion that we can achieve higher and better, as we continue to fulfill our visions of excellence.

The school is located within an incorporated city of approximately 12,000 people located at the confluence of the majestic Susquehanna River and the incomparable Chesapeake Bay. It is classified as suburban and represents all socio-economic levels. The residents of Havre de Grace are employed by local businesses, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and the Baltimore business community.

Havre de Grace High is accredited by the Middle Atlantic Association of Schools and Colleges and the Maryland State Department of Education. In 1991, our school was designated as a National School of Excellence.

Havre de Grace High believes in its motto which serves as the basis of our school’s vision: “Enter to Learn — Learn to Serve.”

Community Involvment:

HHS has an active PTSO and numerous business partnerships. The PTSO is involved directly in the decision-making process. The group meets on a regular basis, serves on the School Based Instructional Decision-Making Team, and serves as volunteers where needed. Local businesses provide a valuable resource in funding and supporting many worthwhile school activities such as honor roll and attendance incentives, academic improvement incentives, as well as numerous employment opportunities and support for our Cooperative Work Experience program.
