Emmorton Elementary fifth graders net first place in Stock Market Game
A team of four Emmorton Elementary fifth grade students took first place in the spring Stock Market Game!  Not only did they net first place in the state among other elementary students, they were also the overall winners among all schools, including middle and high schools, in the state of Maryland!  All of the students in Mrs. Dunnigan’s and Mrs. Lippencott’s fifth grade math classes participated in the game.  However, this team of students’ stock purchases earned them the win.

Alaina Runt, Sydney Hofstetter, Batool Mian, and Kylie Sauer recently accepted their award during a luncheon at Towson University.

The Stock Market Game is sponsored by the Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE).  In the game, students are given an imaginary $100,000 to invest in the stock market during a ten-week period.  This game provides students with a real-world experience in which to practice math skills and learn the fundamentals of investing.
