HCPS partners with community organizations to stuff Thrive by Five backpacks
The Harford County Early Childhood Advisory Council recently assembled "Thrive by Five" backpacks that are filled with books and educational materials for children ages birth through four years old.

The Harford County Early Childhood Advisory Council includes members from Harford County Public Schools, Infants and Toddlers, Head Start, the Harford County Health Department, the Department of Social Services, the Judy Center at Magnolia Elementary, Catholic Charities, Harford County Public Library, Child Care Links, Office of Child Care, Office on Mental Health, LASOS, and the Harford County Local Management Board.  These agencies and organizations are partnering to increase the number of children entering kindergarten ready for school.

The backpacks are designed for young families in need of extra support to prepare their children for school and are funded through the Maryland State Department of Education's Race to the Top - Early Learning Challenge Grant.
