Two HCPS Elementary School Stock Market Teams Earn Top Awards
Two Harford County Public Schools’ elementary school Stock Market Teams were honored with top awards in the 2016 annual Stock Market Game.  Students from Meadowvale Elementary won first place in the state of Maryland and a team of Emmorton Elementary fifth grade students won first place in their region for the spring Stock Market Game.  This is the second year in a row that Emmorton students have placed in the event.  Both teams recently accepted their award during a luncheon at Towson University.

The Stock Market Game is sponsored by the Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE).  In the game, students are given an imaginary $100,000 to invest in the stock market during a ten-week period.  The team who acquires the most amount of money in the game wins.  The Stock Market Game provides students with a real-world experience in which to practice math skills and learn the fundamentals of investing.
