HCPS educator selected to help design digital resources for nationwide STEM curricula
The education team at Boston public media producer WGBH has selected Cindy Lippencott of Magnolia Elementary School to be a Teacher Advisor for “Bringing the Universe to America’s Classrooms,” an initiative to create new instructional models and digital media tools for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning. The digital learning resources will be produced by WGBH in collaboration with NASA and will be distributed free of charge through PBS LearningMediaTM, reaching millions of students and teachers nationally.

Last year, Ms. Lippencott participated in the Watershed Science Summer Institute at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. With a master’s degree in Reading Education and certification as a gifted and talented instructor, she looks to integrate technology into her curriculum in a meaningful manner, while working towards providing lessons that are cross-curricular. Ms. Lippencott is one of 50 advisors selected from over 650 applicants across the country, from a wide range of grade levels and subjects. The candidates were evaluated by reviewers who took into consideration geography, grade, number of years teaching, and type of school, as well as the candidates’ willingness to innovate in the classroom, resulting in a diverse group of teacher advisors.
