Harford Tech's FFA chapter to compete nationally in career development event

The Harford Technical High School FFA chapter has been selected to compete for national recognition in a FFA Career Development Event (CDE) at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 19 - 22, 2016, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Harford Tech’s FFA Chapter will send members to Indianapolis as they vie for national honors in the area of Milk Quality and Products. National support for the Milk Quality and Products CDE is provided by Culver's.

FFA members who will represent the chapter in the event include seniors Emma Williams, Kristina McNeely, Sarah Walters, and Victoria Borig. The chapter advisor is Cole Bishop.

Milk quality and products is one of 24 national CDE areas, covering job skills in everything from communications to mechanics. Participants test milk samples for flavor and taste cheese samples as well as identify cheese characteristics. Members evaluate milk samples using the California Mastitis Test. Finally, the participant's knowledge of milk production and marketing is assessed by a written exam. CDEs help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly and perform effectively in a competitive job market.

Congratulations and best of luck to our Harford Tech FFA Chapter!
