Maryland Fencing Club “attacks” Bel Air Middle School Physical Education Classes
On October 7, the Maryland Fencing Club visited Bel Air Middle School’s physical education classes.  Maryland Fencing Club owner Greg Paye shared his expertise in the art of fencing.

Focusing on the skill thematic approach in physical education classes, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students were exposed to the art of fencing and quickly learned that it is not fighting or sword play but that fencing is all about character building, tradition, ceremony, and etiquette.  Mr. Paye focused on the history of fencing; comparing and contrasting the foil, epee’ and saber; offensive and defensive tactics; higher level fencing refereeing; and the enjoyment of observing live fencing bouts.

Mr. Paye is a certified Moniteur d’ Armes (instructor) in foil, epee’ and saber with the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association.  Assisting Mr. Paye during his school visit was Mrs. Sarah Isert and Mr. Ron Santos.
