The Aberdeen High School Science National Honor Society recently donated $2,000 to the Harford Glen Environmental Scholarship program.  Mrs. Linda McDonough, science teacher at the Science and Mathematics Academy and Harford County’s 2015 Secondary Green Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Amber Milnes, science department chair at Aberdeen High, advise the Science National Honor Society. This is the third year that the Aberdeen chapter has contributed to the environmental scholarship program and the first year that a group has covered the full amount for two scholarships.

The Environmental Scholarship program has granted scholarships to Harford County students since 1972. To date, more than $230,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors who are pursuing an environmental or other related science field degree. Students selected for the scholarships are honored at the Green Awards reception at Harford Glen in May.

The donation was presented to Mr. Howard Eakes, assistant supervisor of Science, at the February meeting.
