Prospect Mill Elementary Hosted 2nd Annual International Night
Prospect Mill Elementary hosted its second annual International night on Thursday, March 27, 2014.  The cafeteria was all abuzz with excitement as PMES families learned about different cultures and sampled foods such as Greek salad, Italian pasta,Mexican food, German cake, candy and kiwis from New Zealand, South American cookies, Scottish biscuits, and much more.

Students and their families were invited to create and share a display about their family heritage for the event.  The entire school community was invited to sample donated foods from local community restaurants, make crafts, and play games from other countries. More than one hundred students completed "passports" as they visited each country's display and had them checked at "Customs" for a homework pass!  Our PTA Cultural Diversity Chairperson, Lorena dos Santos, worked tirelessly to get food permits, gather donations from local restaurants, get families involved, and advertise the event to our school community.

Embracing our Cultural Diversity at Prospect Mill Elementary has been a goal for our PTA the past two years, and this wonderful, educational evening was the perfect opportunity for our families to do just that! Thank you to those who shared their cultures as well as those who attended.
