Harford County Regional Association of Student Councils participates in Festival of Trees
Article submitted by Amanda Dorsey, Vice President of the Harford County Regional Association of Student Councils

Through the start of the chilly and busy winter season, the Harford County Regional Association of Student Councils (HCRASC) has dedicated their time and efforts towards helping the Kennedy Krieger Institute.  For the second year in a row, HCRASC has designed and created a holiday tree to be displayed and sold at the Festival of Trees event at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.  Middle and high school Student Councils from all across the county made ornaments to contribute towards the Disney-themed tree.  Disney movies such as Frozen, Finding Nemo, Ariel, 101 Dalmatians, and many more were featured.  The student decorators who allotted time towards assembling the tree included Peter Sheu (Aberdeen High School), Amanda Dorsey (Edgewood High School), Harley Wilson (Bel Air High School), Micah Jacobs (Havre de Grace Middle School), and Breiana Pressberry (Havre de Grace Middle School).

The Festival of Trees was held over Thanksgiving weekend, where attendees browsed and admired trees that organizations all over the state of Maryland created.  Trees are then purchased, and all proceeds go towards the Kennedy Krieger Institute.  HCRASC’s tree was valued at $175 for Kennedy Krieger.  This event has illuminated the fact that when Harford County students come together, they truly have the power to make a significant difference in our community. The organization hopes to continue participating in this event for years to come.
