HCPS is pumped up for PARCC!
Check out how some of our schools are getting pumped up for PARCC....

North Harford Elementary School

North Harford Elementary School and North Harford High School teamed up to motivate third, fourth and fifth graders taking the PARCC Assessment this year.

Lauren Karr, the vocal music teacher at North Harford Elementary, changed the words to a popular song that the students knew and one that would motivate them. She can be heard singing the rewritten version in the background in the link below.

The dedicated Interactive Media-Journalism 2/3 class led by Jennifer Chandler at North Harford High agreed to film and produce the parody. It was hard work coordinating the event, and the students in both schools collaborated well and did a fabulous job creating the parody.

Aberdeen Middle School

Aberdeen Middle School kicked off the PARCC assessment with a PARCC Rally.  "GREATNESS comes from Aberdeen" was this year's theme.  Students were motivated through teacher performances, motivational videos, and encouraging words from Aberdeen Alumni.

Mr. Madrice Guy, Dr. Elizabeth R. Oates, Mr. Duvowel Peaker and Miss Ebony Lee (pictured below) are Aberdeen alumni who shared brief accounts of their middle school experience and how they are able to achieve "greatness" in their current occupation.  They advised students to do their best on the assessment as the students will soon venture out into their own careers.
