Senator Nancy Jacobs sits in front of a group of Abingdon Elementary students speaking to them on the importance of voting.

Senator Nancy Jacobs, District 34 of Maryland, visited Abingdon Elementary School on Thursday, November 6th from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. During her visit, Senator Jacobs visited all kindergarten classes and spoke with the children about voting and the process of how she became a state senator because of citizens who voted her into office. She spoke about the responsibilities of state senators and what they do to help people. Additionally, Senator Jacobs talked with the students about the state symbols for Maryland and she gave each student a coloring book and stickers that related to the role of government.

Senator Jacobs’ grandson attends Abingdon Elementary School as a kindergarten student. The visit was initiated by her grandson's teacher, Ms. Tracy Moretti, who invited Senator Jacobs to visit kindergarten students to help them understand the concepts of elections and voting.
