Long-Term Substitute Teachers

To be considered for a long-term substitute position, candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree and will be required to provide a copy of their degree.
Applicants should complete the HCPS Online Teacher Application (select Teacher: Long-Term Substitute).
Long-term rate: $125.00/day.

Cafeteria Substitute Positions

Harford County Public Schools may have substitute cafeteria positions available throughout the year. These positions pay $8 per hour with shifts ranging 3-4 hours per day between the hours of 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Substitutes have the ability to choose the schools in which they prefer to work.

No past food service experience is required; paid training will be offered through the Food & Nutrition Department. All candidates are required to lift 40 pounds and able to meet health department personal hygiene standards.

Substitute cafeteria position duties include:

· Cashier

· Serving

· Dining Room Aide

· Dish Machine Attendant

· General Cleaning

· Receiving & Storage of Products

· Other work-related duties

Promotion to permanent part-time positions ($10 per hour) are available and require prior substitute experience. Substitute and permanent part-time positions are not eligible to receive benefits.

Home and Hospital Teachers Needed

Harford County residents are being sought as applicants for non-contracted home & hospital teaching positions. Assignments involve working individually with students who are temporarily unable to attend school due to a physical or emotional condition. Instructional services are typically provided at the student’s residence or in a hospital or treatment center setting. Reimbursement is provided on an hourly basis ($19.67 - $21.07), depending on previous teaching experience, plus mileage. No additional benefits are provided. Minimal requirements include verification of a bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education, favorable references, a successful criminal background investigation, and Harford County residency.
