| Magnolia Elementary is located on Trimble Road in Joppa, MD. The 1-story, air-conditioned school was built in 1975 on about 17 acres. The students are drawn from a densely populated area consisting of single homes, townhomes, and apartments. The instructional area contains pods, classrooms, and planning areas, with a centrally-located media center. Self-contained classrooms house 5 all day kindergarten classes and 2 all day pre-K classes. There is also a vocal music room, an instrumental music room, a computer lab, and a gymnasium. The stage is used as an art classroom. All of our fourth grade classes are housed in portable classrooms behind the school as well as one of our fifth grade classes.
The capacity of MES is 521, enrollment is around 510 students from grades Pre-K through 5. There are 18 regular classrooms, 5 Kindergarten classrooms, 2 Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, one located in a seperate building, 1 Special Education classroom, and 5 Relocatables. The mission of Magnolia Elementary School, in partnership with the community, is to prepare lifelong learners to be productive in an ever-changing world by providing quality education in an environment conductive to learning. |
