Professional Development



Foreign language educators in Harford County have participated in numerous professional development activities. Many have attended conferences in order to grow as foreign language educators. Conferences attended include a TPR Storytelling workshop, a Stephen Krashen conference, and national conferences. Representative foreign language educators attended the AATSP Annual Meeting in Colorado in 1998, the AATF National Convention in Montreal, Canada in 1998, and the AATG Annual Meeting.

In the summer of 1999, two HCPS French teachers were presenters at the AATF National Convention in St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, two HCPS German teachers have acted as co-presidents for the MOGS Convention when it is held at Harford Community College.

In the Spring of 2001, one HCPS French teacher presented a technology-related workshop at a Howard County Public Schools Foreign Language staff development day.

In November 2001, two HCPS French teachers presented at the ACTFL National Convention in Washington, DC.
