School Counseling Department
Heather Blackwell

As always the guidance and counseling program at Meadowvale will encompass the national standards that have been designed and created by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) to include academic, career, and personal-social development. Meadowvale's guidance and counseling department offers a variety of services ranging from individual counseling, group counseling, classroom guidance, parental support, as well as teacher support services, just to name a few. I invite you to contact me with any concerns or questions you may have regarding your student's learning.
Meadowvale's character education program will continue this school year with the addition of our school wide rules and the mustang program. The BEST (Building Esteem in Students Today) program will also continue to be utilized by our teachers.

Attendance Academy

As your student(s) embark on a new year of learning, you too will be embarking on your on journey of sorting out new policies and procedures outlined in this year's Parent-Student Handbook. We, at Meadowvale, feel that it is necessary to outline some important changes in HCPS attendance policies to make your lives a little easier. So here are some quick facts about this year's attendance policy!
  • A student is counted present for a full day if a student is absent no more than one hour of the school day.
  • A student is considered to have half day attendance if a student is present for more than one hour of the school day and is absent more than one hour during the school day.
  • Upon returning to school after an absence the student is required to bring a written note from his/her parent or caretaker stating the reason for each absence. This note is to be given to the student's classroom teacher the morning of his/her return in order to facilitate accurate record keeping.
  • Please pay particular attention to Section II. A-K for acceptable excused absences/tardiness.
  • A student is considered to be late to school if he/she arrives to the classroom after the 9:00 am bell. If this occurs the student must report to school office to obtain a tardy slip to gain admission into the classroom.
  • Please review the standards for regular attendance as well as the policies and procedures related to continued excessive (5 or more days) absences and tardies in Section IV. A & C.
