Registering Your Child for Kindergarten

Kindergarten registration is held on the first Friday of the month of May. This year, the first Friday is May 6, 2011. The legal age for kindergarten attendance in the public school system is at least five (5) years of age on or before September 1st. Schools have different procedures for the kindergarten registration process. If you are new to Harford County and have arrived over the summer months, school offices are open 8:00 AM until 4 PM. Register your child as soon as possible during the summer months. Bus routes may be found on the HCPS website. To register your kindergarten age child (ren), all schools require your child’s birth certificate, social security card, and immunization records. You will also be required to bring your drivers’ license and proof of residency.

During the last week in April, kindergarten packets may be picked up in the office or a packet can be sent home with an older sibling. Registration hours on May 6th are 9:30 - 2:30. If you are unable to register May 6th, register any day between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM. No appointment is necessary.
Bakerfield Elementary 410.273.5518 Registration packages are available in the office after April 1st. Registration is held on May 6th from 9 – 10:50 am and 1:10 – 3 pm in the school cafeteria. If you miss K Registration Day (May 6), you may register your child in the office any school day from 9:00 - 3:00.
Bel Air Elementary 410.638.4160 Registration packages are available in the school office in April.
Church Creek Elementary 410.273.5550 Registration packages are available after April 15th. These may be picked up in the office by a parent or guardian or a package may be sent home with an older sibling attending the school. On May 6th, parents with last names A-M are asked to arrive at the school between 9 AM and Noon and last names N-Z are asked to arrive between Noon and 3 PM.
Churchville Elementary 410.638.3800 Registration will be held on Friday, May 6. Parents with last names A-M should arrive at school between 9 AM and Noon and last names N-Z should arrive between 12:30 and 3:00 PM. If you miss K Registration, you may register in the office any school day from 9:00AM – 3:00PM after May 6.
Darlington Elementary 410.638.3700 Registration packages are available at the school on May 6th from 9:15-3, no appointment necessary.
Deerfield Elementary 410.612.1535 Registration will be held between 9 AM and 3 PM. No appointment necessary.
Dublin Elementary 410.638.3703 Registration packages are available at the school on May 6th from 9:15-3, no appointment necessary.
Edgewood Elementary 410.612.1540 Registration packets for kindergarten students are available at the school on May 6th. No appointment is necessary.
Emmorton Elementary 410.638.3920 Pre-registration forms for new kindergarten students are distributed to all current students in March. The form is also available in the school office. Registration packets, including necessary registration forms and instructions, are mailed to pre-registered students in April. An appointment time to register on May 6th is assigned and included in the packet.
Forest Hill Elementary 410.638.4166 Pre-registration Kindergarten Round-Up form is sent home with all current students in March. A pre-registration form may be obtained by calling the office. Registration packages will be mailed or sent home with older siblings mid-April to those that have pre-registered. On May 6th, parents with last names A-F are asked to arrive at the school between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, last names G-K between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM and the last names L-Z between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Registration packages are available at the school office on May 6th.
Forest Lakes Elementary 410.638.4262 Kindergarten Round -Up begins in March. Request a packet by calling the office. Pre-registration information will be sent out in April. Parents who have pre-registered will be given an appointment time for Registration Day. The hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Fountain Green Elementary 410.638.4220 Notices begin appearing at the end of March for students with older siblings attending the school for pre-registration. Pre-registration forms can be downloaded from the school’s website http://www.hcps.org/fountaingreen/. Registration packets are available mid-April for parents to pick up in the school. With the package is a letter that indicates an appointment time for May 6th.
George D. Lisby Elementary At Hillsdale 410.273.5530 Kindergarten registration packets are available the 3rd Monday in April. Pre-Kindergarten packets are available the first Friday in May. Registration for kindergarten and application for prekindergarten begins the first Friday in May. No appointment is necessary.
Hall's Cross Road Elementary 410.273.5524 Pre-Registration information is published in the April school newsletter to parents. A letter is also sent out mid-April with pre-registration and registration information. Registration packages are available at the school on May 6th, or call to make an appointment.
Havre de Grace Elementary 410.939.6616 Pre-K and Kindergarten registration for the 2011 – 2012 school year will begin on May 6th. Registration will be held from 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Please call the school from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for information about what items are needed to register your child for school.
Hickory Elementary 410.638.4170 Pre-registration information is published in the January, February, March and April school newsletters. If you did not complete pre-registration information from the school newsletter, please call the school for pre-registration information. Pre-registration packets will be mailed in early April. Appointment time is assigned and mailed with the pre-registration packet.
Homestead/Wakefield Elementary 410.638.4175 Information and a pre-registration form for incoming kindergartners are distributed to all current students in March. A form may also be obtained by contacting the school in March. Registration packets will be mailed to those who have pre-registered and a registration time will be assigned between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:30 pm on Registration Day. Jarrettsville Elementary 410.692.7800 Pre-registration forms are sent home with all current students in March. A pre-registration form may be obtained by calling the office. Registration packets will be mailed or sent home with older siblings in early April to those who have pre-registered. Come in to register on May 6th from 10 AM until 2 PM, or call to make an appointment.
Joppatowne Elementary 410.612.1546 Kindergarten registration packets are available after April 28th. These may be picked up in the office by a parent or guardian or a packet may be sent home with an older sibling attending our school. Registration is held on May 6th between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Children with last names A-M may register from 9:00-11:00 AM; last names N-Z register 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Please call the school @ 410-612-1546 to schedule an appointment for registration if you cannot make it on May 6th.
Magnolia Elementary 410.612.1553 Kindergarten pre-registration packets will be available as of April 19th. Registration day is Friday, May 6, 2011 between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00pm. If you are unable to register on May 6th, you may register any day after that, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00pm. No appointment necessary. PRE-KINDERGARTEN APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 6, 2011. Further information will be posted at the school and in the local newspapers.
Meadowvale Elementary 410.939.6622 Pre-K and Kindergarten registration for the 2011 – 2012 school year will begin on May 6th. Registration is held in our Parks and Recreation room from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Our Pre-Kindergarten teacher, a Kindergarten teacher, our School Nurse, School Counselor and Principal will be available to answer questions and welcome our newest Meadowvale Mustangs. Two tours of the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms will be scheduled. Please call the school form 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for information about what items are needed to register your child for school.
Norrisville Elementary 410.692.7810 Pre-registration information is published in the March school newsletter to parents and can also be found at http://www.norrisville.com/. Packets are mailed to pre-registered students in mid-April. A letter that indicates an appointment time for May 6th is included with the package. Call the school for questions.
North Bend Elementary 410.692.7815 Registration packets will be available in our school’s office the week of April 12, 2011. After picking up a packet, please call the school at 410-692-7815 to schedule a registration time for May 6th. Registration will be held between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
North Harford Elementary 410.638.3670 Registration for kindergarten will take place 9 AM - 3 PM on May 6th. Appointments are not necessary. Pre-kindergarten application packets will be available beginning at 9 AM on May 6th. Pre-kindergarten applications are not available prior to May 6th.
Prospect Mill Elementary 410.638.3817 Kindergarten registration packets will be mailed or sent home with an older sibling on April 21st to those parents who have pre-registered. On May 6th, parents with last names A-D are asked to register between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., last names E-K between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., last names L-R between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m, and last names S-Z between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Registration packets for Kindergarten will be available in the school office on April 26th.
Red Pump Elementary 410.809.6244 Red Pump Kindergarten registration will take place at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary in the Homestead building (the building closest to Bel Air Middle School) on Friday, May 6th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Parents with last names A-L are asked to register between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon; parents with last names M-Z are asked to register between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. Please call 410-809-6244 if you would like a registration packet mailed to you in advance.
Ring Factory Elementary 410.638.4186 Kindergarten round-up begins in March. Information and pre-registration forms for new kindergarten students are sent home with all current students in March. A form may also be obtained by calling the school in March. Registration packets will be mailed to those who have pre-registered. The packet will include registration forms as well as a letter explaining the process and an assigned time to attend on Friday, May 6.

Call the school and a pre-registration packet will be mailed by mid-April with an assigned time to arrive on Registration Day. If you are unable to register May 6th, register any day between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. No appointment necessary. Please note that kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2011. Prekindergarten packets will be available at the school but not until May 6, 2011. No exceptions. Please note that prekindergarten is extended to children who will be 4 years of age as of September 1, 2011 and who are from families with disadvantaged economic backgrounds, who are homeless, or are in foster care. The WSJES prekindergarten program will be held at Abingdon Elementary School for the 2011-12 school year.
