Registering Your Child for Kindergarten

Beginning in the 2008-09 school year, all of our kindergarten programs became full day. Kindergarten registration is held on the first Friday of the month of May. This year, the first Friday is May 2, 2008. The legal age for kindergarten attendance in the public school system is at least five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2008. Schools have some different procedures for the kindergarten registration process. If you are new to Harford County and have arrived over the summer months, school offices are open 8:00 AM until 4 PM. Register your child as soon as possible during the summer months. Bus routes may be found on the HCPS website. To register your kindergarten age child (ren), all schools require your child's birth certificate, social security card, and immunization records. You will also be required to bring your drivers' license and proof of residency.

During the last week in April kindergarten packets may be picked up in the office or a packet will be sent home with an older sibling. Registration hours on May 2nd are 9-2:30. If you are unable to register May 2nd, register any day between 9:00AM and 3:00PM. No appointment necessary.
Bakerfield Elementary	410.273.5518	Registration packages are available in the office after April 1st. Registration is held on May 2nd from 9 – 10:50 am and 1:10 – 3 pm in the school cafeteria. If you miss K Registration Day (May 2), you may register your child in the office any school day from 9:00 - 3:00.
Bel Air Elementary	410.638.4160	Registration packages are available in the school office in April.
Church Creek Elementary	410.273.5550	Registration packages are available after April 1st. These may be picked up in the office by a parent or guardian or a package may be sent home with an older sibling attending the school. On May 2nd, parents with last names A-M are asked to arrive at the school between 9 AM and Noon and last names N-Z are asked to arrive between Noon and 3 PM.
Churchville Elementary	410.638.3800	Registration packages are available in the office in mid-April. Registration is held on May 2nd. Parents with last names A-M should arrive at school between 9 AM and Noon and last names N-Z should arrive between 12:30 and 3:00 PM.
Darlington Elementary	410.638.3700	Registration packages are available after April 1st. These may be picked up in the office or a package may be sent home with an older sibling. Please call the office to schedule an appointment to register on May 2nd. There will be a meeting for all prospective kindergarten parents on April 15th, from 6:00-7:00 pm in the media center. If you have a child entering kindergarten, please plan on attending.

Edgewood Elementary	410.612.1540	Registration packets for kindergarten students are available at the school on May 2nd. No appointment is necessary.
Emmorton Elementary	410.638.3920	Pre-registration forms for kindergarten are included in February and March editions of the newsletter. A pre-registration form may be obtained by contacting the office. Packets are mailed to pre-registered students in mid-April. A designated time to register on May 2nd is included in the packet.
Forest Hill Elementary	410.638.4166	Pre-registration Kindergarten Round-Up form is sent home with all current students in March. A pre-registration form may be obtained by calling the office. Registration packages will be mailed or sent home with older siblings mid-April to those that have pre-registered. On May 2nd, parents with last names A-F are asked to arrive at the school between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, last names G-K between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM and the last names L-Z between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Registration packages are available at the school office on May 2nd.
Forest Lakes Elementary	410.638.4262	Kindergarten Round -Up begins in March. Request a packet by calling the office. Pre-registration information will be sent out in April. Parents who have pre-registered will be given an appointment time for Registration Day. The hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Fountain Green Elementary	410.638.4220	Notices begin appearing at the end of March for students with older siblings attending the school for pre-registration. Pre-registration forms can be downloaded from the school’s website http://www.hcps.org/fountaingreen/. Registration packets are available mid-April for parents to pick up in the school. With the package is a letter that indicates an appointment time for May 2nd.
George D. Lisby Elementary At Hillsdale	410.273.5530	Kindergarten registration packets are available the 3rd Monday in April. Pre-Kindergarten packets are available the first Friday in May. Registration for kindergarten and application for prekindergarten begins the first Friday in May. No appointment is necessary.
Hall's Cross Road Elementary	410.273.5524	Pre-Registration information is published in the April school newsletter to parents. A letter is also sent out mid-April with pre-registration and registration information. Registration packages are available at the school on May 2nd, or call to make an appointment.

Appointment time is assigned and mailed with the pre-registration packet.
Homestead/Wakefield Elementary	410.638.4175	Information and a pre-registration form for incoming kindergartners are distributed to all current students in March. A form may also be obtained by contacting the school in March. Registration packets will be mailed to those who have pre-registered and a registration time will be assigned between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:30 pm on Registration Day. Jarrettsville Elementary	410.692.7800	Pre-registration forms are sent home beginning mid-February. Packets are picked up at the school or mailed. Come in to register on May 2nd from 9 AM until 2 PM, or call to make an appointment.

These may be picked up in the office by a parent or guardian or a packet may be sent home with an older sibling attending our school. Registration is held on May 2nd between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Children with last names A-M may register from 9:00-11:00 AM; last names N-Z register 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Magnolia Elementary	410.612.1553	Kindergarten pre-registration packets will be available after April 14, 2008. Registration day is Friday, May 2, 2008 between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. If you are unable to register on May 2nd, you may register any day after that, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. No appointment necessary. PRE-KINDERGARTEN APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 2, 2008.

Packets are mailed to pre-registered students in mid-April. A letter that indicates an appointment time for May 2nd is included with the package. Call the school for questions.

A form may also be obtained by calling the school in March. Registration packets will be mailed to those who have pre-registered. The packet will include registration forms as well as a letter explaining the process and an assigned time to attend on Friday, May 2.
