About our School:
Edgewood Elementary School Mascot

The highly qualified staff at Edgewood Elementary School is dedicated to providing each student with a meaningful and rigorous educational program. It is the mission of all staff to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports excellence and life long learning for all children. Teaching teams use classroom performance and assessment results to design an appropriate program for each student. Programs to support continued student achievement include full-day Kindergarten, Pre-K and Child Find , ReAch (Reading Achievement), LAUNCH (Language Arts Understanding to Nurture CHildren's Literacy Attainments), Wilson Reading Systems, Math POWER, and GT (Gifted and Talented).

The Family Liaison Program involves parents in the educational progress of their children. GT allows a half-time enrichment resource teacher to provide options for developing the talents of our diverse student body. Math POWER during school uses manipulative-rich lessons to supplement outcomes through development of problem-solving strategies for at-risk students. Additionally, the after school Math Club focuses on developing math understandings and solid mathematical foundations. An eight year partnership with the United States Army Environmental Center has benefited all students as they work with Army mentors to learn about environmental issues, career goals, and citizenship.

The Faculty and Staff at Edgewood believe that all students are individuals with diverse needs and talents. When provided with a variety of learning opportunities, students will strive to meet high standards. Our vision is to foster respect and self esteem within our school community and promote successful learning for all students.

Community Involvement:

At EES, there are many opportunities for community involvement. Volunteers come to the school to provide needed programs that would otherwise be impossible. These programs include a publication center, reading program, production pool, extended day skills, and program and cafeteria support.

The school mentor program is another part of everyday life at EES. Staff volunteers develop valuable relationships with our students. EES has a very active and devoted PTA. This group works diligently to bring quality activities and programs to the school that supports our students' growth and academic success. Community groups such as Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the Edgewood Parks and Recreation Council use our school as a meeting place. EES is also involved in the EES/USAEC school/business partnership which provides opportunities for service men and women to work directly with the students and staff of EES.
