Welcome to Emmorton Elementary School, home of the Eagles! Emmorton Elementary’s mission continues to be simple: “Making a difference with open minds, open hearts and open hands.”

Our caring and experienced staff provides instruction that is innovative, state of the art, and reaches the whole child. We are located in Bel Air close to Harford Glen, the county’s premiere outdoor education center. We believe that building a strong partnership between the home and school enables us to achieve our goal of continuous achievement for all students. Through a strong partnership with families and other community members, we reach each and every child every day. Teacher newsletters give parents information about units of study and upcoming projects and tests, as well as a calendar of events. In collaboration with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we provide parent workshops with sessions on a variety of topics as well as family nights featuring fun for all members.

The Emmorton Elementary staff is committed to providing a rigorous and challenging program for all our students. Use of student and teacher technology continues to help expose our students to meaningful, real-life learning applications. Our block schedule provides a predictable daily schedule for our students with large blocks of uninterrupted instructional time. This schedule also allows us to regroup students as needed and have our specialists plug into classrooms to provide for individual students’ needs. We also provide extra intensive instruction or enrichment in identified content areas of need for individual students as needed. In reading, we focus on implementing a variety of strategies for improving students’ interaction with the text they are reading, which ultimately improves their comprehension. Improving students’ number sense, problem-solving abilities, and mathematical communication skills are the focus of our school math program.

Each day our students recite our school pledge, which is aligned to our school mission. This pledge reinforces the positive behaviors we expect from our students in creating a positive learning environment in each of our classrooms. Establishing high expectations for behavior and learning enables our community to See Our Achievements Rise!

Sincerely,
