School Structure:

A traditional elementary schedule is followed. During the year, grade levels regroup for instructional purposes. Half-day sessions of kindergarten and pre-kindergarten are offered.

About our School:
Hall's Cross Roads Elementary School Mascot

Welcome to Hall's Cross Roads: a historic landmark in Harford County. Originally established in the late 1600's as a haven and relay point for stagecoaches, Hall's Cross Roads Elementary continues to be a hub of the community. Supported by an outstanding staff, we draw strengths from our diverse community, and continue to work together to unite our students, families, and community members.

Our school focus continues to be creating experiences that are conducive to high levels of student achievement. This is reflected in our school's vision statement: "Hall's Cross Roads Elementary will be an exemplary community-centered school that produces thinkers and learners, leaders and 'do-ers' in pursuit of academic and personal excellence." Once again, we are proud to have achieved all areas of the Adequate Yearly Progress standards set by the federal legislation, No Child Left Behind. This continues to be achieved by our focus on improving instruction in the areas of language arts and mathematics and by tailoring instruction to meet the individual needs of our learners.

This year, we are moving ahead at a rapid pace to incorporate high levels of technology. We have Interwrite virtual white boards in each grade level (grades 2-5), and have two mobile wireless laptop labs. We also continue to use assistive technology to augment learning opportunities in all classrooms. With innovative scheduling, teachers are given intentional time each day for planning and looking at student work. Our work with national consultants, Dr. Harvey Silver and Richard Strong, combined with the process-driven approach of Quality Education Services (QuESt, led by Dr. Diane Rivers) involves the entire school community in the school improvement process while offering opportunities to enhance our teaching strategies.

With great excitement and a passion for teaching and learning, we expect continued progress and success for all students. Many successful students have walked through and among the halls of Hall's Cross Roads Elementary and we are excited about the futures and possibilities for our students.

Community Involvment:

Community involvement is a major factor in the success of our students at HCRES. Our community encompasses the staff of the school, parents, concerned citizens, and local businesses and organizations. The parents of our students volunteer throughout the school, attend workshops presented by our Home Visitor, and are members and leaders of the PTO.

Concerned citizens from throughout the community serve on school committees, volunteer in the classrooms, and are members of the PTO. Local businesses and organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club, FritoLay, Clorox, Wal-Mart, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, and APG promote our school and support our staff as we strive to provide the best education for our students.
