Supporting Services Employee Benefits
Group Health, Life, and Dental Insurance
Currently, the Board of Education pays 90% of the premium for coverage selected
by the employee from several health insurance programs, a dental program, and the
basic level of life insurance.
Tuition Reimbursement
Employees will be provided partial reimbursement for approved job-related courses or training programs. The amount of reimbursable credits is dependent upon which Negotiated Agreement the employee is covered under. The number of credits per fiscal year may range from nine to twelve. A grade of āCā or better or a certificate of completion is required. Currently, support staff employees are reimbursed up to $175.00 per credit.
Retirement
All support employees who work at least 500 hours are required to join the Maryland
State Pension System.
Professional Liability Insurance
All employees are provided liability insurance coverage in the amount of $100,000.
Tax Shelter and Deferred Compensation
The Board of Education provides Tax Deferred Investment Program (403b) and Deferred
Compensation Plan (457) to all regular employees.
Family Bereavement
A total of six consecutive calendar days are provided in the event of the death
of a member of the support employee's immediate family.
Personal Business
Support employees are allowed three days per year. Unused personal business is transferred
to accumulated sick leave at the end of each school year.
Sick Leave
Support employees earn sick leave for personal illness at a rate of 1.25 days per
qualifying month. Employees are allowed to use seven (7) days of sick leave per
year for illness in the family. Accumulation of unused sick leave is unlimited.
Staff development
Staff development opportunities are provided as appropriate or needed.
