HCPS DI teams place at state tournament; advancing to Globals in May
The Destination Imagination (DI) State Tournament took place on Saturday, April 18, at UMBC.  Several teams from Harford County Public Schools competed, and five teams qualified to advance to the Global Competition, which will take place on May 20-23 in Knoxville, Tennessee.  We are proud for all of our DI teams who competed this school year in the Regional and State Tournaments.

Congratulations to Hall’s Cross Roads Elementary School’s Structural and Service Learning Team (First Place team), Bel Air Middle School’s Technical Team (Second Place team), and Bel Air High School’s Structural Teams (First and Third Place teams) for qualifying to advance to Globals!

DI’s mission is to develop opportunities that inspire the global community of learners to utilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity.  The DI program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the arts and service learning. DI participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process.  To learn more about DI, please visit http://www.destinationimagination.org/.
