Harford Tech students send holiday wishes to Helping Up Mission
For almost a decade, the Harford Technical High School Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) has been a service partner with Helping Up Mission (HUM) in Baltimore, Maryland, an organization that provides hope to poor and homeless men as both an overnight shelter and an addiction-recovery center.

The Harford Tech NTHS chapter supports HUM in several ways throughout the school year.  This Friday, they will send approximately 600 Christmas cards to the men at HUM.  The seniors in the Printing & Graphic Communications Program, under the direction of Mrs. Monica Chiveral, designed and created hundreds of holiday cards for the men at HUM.  Each NTHS member – almost 170 strong – signed and provided a personal inspirational message in the cards, which were assembled by NTHS Executive Board members.  The cards will make it to HUM in time for Christmas.

Earlier this year at Thanksgiving, students sought out monetary donations of loose change for the “Change for Change” collection during school lunches and were able to donate more than $200 to HUM.

In the spring, the NTHS will sponsor a schoolwide “Hope Totes” drive to collect daily personal care items that are needed by the men and will deliver them during a day of service.
