During the week of December 8, 2025, students in the Teacher Academy of Maryland program had the opportunity to participate in a special lunch and learn session with HCPS Superintendent Dr. Sean Bulson. The event gave future educators a closer look at the day to day responsibilities of the superintendent and the work involved in leading a large school system.

Throughout the session, students asked a wide range of questions about his role, his experiences in education, and how he approaches leadership. Dr. Bulson spoke about the challenges and rewards of the position and shared insight into how he stays connected to schools and classrooms across the county.

Students shared that they appreciated the time he spent with them and the thoughtful way he answered each question. Several students described him as a strong superintendent who is able to problem solve effectively and stay focused on what matters most. They also noted that his thorough and personable responses helped them better understand his responsibilities and leadership style. Students said the experience was informative and helped them connect more deeply with the realities of educational leadership.

The lunch and learn offered students a meaningful opportunity to hear directly from a system leader and to connect what they are learning in the Teacher Academy of Maryland program to real experiences in educational leadership.
