Deerfield Elementary School is part of a great community in Edgewood, MD. The school services a little over 800 students, pre-k to 5th grade. The students, parents, teachers, and staff are all a part of the “One Team, One Goal” concept. The staff here is committed to helping students achieve academically and socially, so students can reach their potential in life.
This school year we will have 3 full day pre-kindergarten classrooms and we are becoming a Targeted Title I school (and proud of it). New programs are here to help our students achieve their best. We are a PBIS gold school as well. With Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports we expect students to try their best, while being respectful, and having fun.
Various businesses and partnerships are present to help our students succeed. One program is for our fifth grade boys called Boys to Men. The boys are mentored through adult leaders who give them guidance on academics and social skills. Another program that works closely with the school is the YMCA. They have a before and after school daycare on site.
At Deerfield we follow a rigorous curriculum for all subject areas. The Maryland College and Career-Ready standards are at the forefront of our planning and instruction. Integration of technology is extremely important as well. Students are exposed to, or using technology on a daily basis. We are fortunate to have a large computer lab, wireless access, Smart Boards in every room, a high-tech TV studio, and tablet carts.
The faculty and staff of Deerfield Elementary School are committed to providing students with a safe environment and a quality learning experience. “One Team, One Goal” at Deerfield Elementary!
