John Archer School is the only separate public day school educating students with severe and profound disabilities in Harford County. Our staff members are committed to meeting the needs of each student while providing a positive and nurturing environment. Every student is challenged to meet high expectations so that they can develop skills needed for independence. Working in partnership with parents, we believe that all of our students can achieve success.
Our school improvement plan focuses on strategies that increase student learning and foster a student centered learning environment. Important data such as student achievement along with annual staff and parent surveys help our school improvement team to prioritize goals for school improvement.
The instructional program is tailored to meet individual student needs based on individual education plan goals. Instructional areas may include communication, functional academics, behavior and social skills, personal management, community skills and career vocational skills. In addition to serving students with significant special needs, our school houses the Harford County Infants and Toddlers Program and countywide special education itinerant services.
We are located next to Harford Technical High School and across the street from Harford Community College. As a result, our students benefit from excellent volunteer services provided by high school and college students. With the support of our community, all of our students experience success.
