Athletic Association (MPSSAA)

Athletic Association. The MPSSAA is an association made up of public high schools
from each of the 24 school systems in the state of Maryland.
SPORTS PHYSICAL SCHEDULE
All students must have a physical examination in order to participate in athletics.
This physical exam will be valid from June 8 through the following June 7. Local
physicians provide low-cost physical exams as a convenience to students. The current
exam schedule is posted here. Physical forms may be found in the Forms link below.

HCPS athletic ticket prices have changed
Ticket prices for high school athletic games:
- Adults: $5
- Students and children 7 years and older: $5
- Children under 7: FREE

Students may buy a pass for $20 that is valid for all games at their school only for the entire school year. Adults may also buy a pass, valid for any 10 games at their child’s school during the school year, for $25.

A schedule of athletic contests for the current season is displayed for your information
through Digital Sports. We have provided links in the chart below which guides you
to each of our ten high schools. You may view and print schedules for each school
in all sports from this link. You may also register to receive email alerts if any
changes are made to a school athletic schedule.
Art
The elementary art curriculum provides to all students a well-sequenced program
of developmentally appropriate art experiences in five major areas: Drawing, Painting,
Printmaking, Three-Dimensional Design, and Two-Dimensional Design. Students are
involved in activities which are culturally balanced and integrated with study in
language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science. A variety of strategies
is used to enable students to construct meaning, investigate, make decisions, and
solve problems creatively. The comprehensive elementary art curriculum enhances
the students' total educational experience.
The middle school art curriculum is designed to provide all adolescents with opportunities
for sequential instruction in this subject. Art activities are provided in five
major areas: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Three-Dimensional Design and Lettering.
Within one or more of these five areas, a Student Service Learning activity may
also be experienced, in conjunction with team initiatives. The middle school art
program extends elementary learning, enables selected skills to be refined, and
provides opportunities for unique and individual applications. Adolescents who have
pursued the middle school program are well prepared to succeed in meeting the Fine
Arts graduation requirement.
The high school art program consists of a variety of elective curricular offerings.
From an entry-level course taken to satisfy the Fine Arts graduation requirement,
to an AP Art History course needed to fulfill a college entrance standard, students
have many options. Courses can be sequenced for students who have identified future
ambitions by the career path selected. The correct sequence of curricula provides
for appropriate preparation and maximum success. All high school art courses provide
opportunities for students to refine and apply learned skills and concepts and to
develop personally and creatively as visually literate young adults.
