CTE Night February 15, 2023 for Students in Grades 2-7

A version of the following message will be sent to families with students in grades 2-7 via our mass communications system on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. via phone, email, and text message:

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Patterson Mill Middle/High School, the Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) Career and Technology Education (CTE) Office will host an informational event for students and families interested in learning about the programs of study within comprehensive high schools, as well as HCPS signature and magnet programs.  This event is geared toward families of students currently in second to seventh grade.

For elementary students, it will prepare families for instruction they will be exposed to in middle school based on programs of study.  For middle school families, it will provide a view into the various offerings that are available based on magnet and specialty programs and opportunities that relate to real-world experiences.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with current students and teachers from a variety of CTE programs and discover how CTE innovatively prepares students for opportunities beyond high school.

The following Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) recognized programs of study will be represented:  Arts, Media and Communications; Business Management, Finance and Entrepreneurship; Health and Human Services; Natural Resources and Agricultural Science: and Science, Engineering and Technology.

Information on CTE magnet and specialty programs, such as the Academy of Finance, Information Technology Oracle Academy, the International Baccalaureate Program, Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH), Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering, and the Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM), will also be available.

We hope you can join us on February 15, 2023 to showcase our opportunities, answer questions and meet some of the teachers and students behind our programs.
