Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA)
Attached please find a link to the website for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association. The MPSSAA is an association made up of public high schools from each of the 24 school systems in the state of Maryland.


SPORTS PHYSICAL

All students must have a physical examination in order to participate in athletics. Physicals must be dated June 8, 2021 or later to be valid for the 2021-2022 school year.

Free Physicals:

  • By appointment only, no walk-ins.
  • Students must bring the appropriate forms.
  • If students are under the age of 18, they must have signed permission from their parent.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY - SCHOLASTIC

Per the HCPS eligibility policy, students who meet one of the criteria below will be ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities in the first quarter of the 2021-2022 school year.

  1. Received an "E" on the quarterly report card
  2. Received an "E" as a final grade for a course
  3. Off track for graduation

Students who are deemed ineligible may appeal to the Eligibility Committee at their school. Students interested in submitting an appeal for Fall extracurricular activities, please click on the link for your school or contact the school, complete the FORMS document, and submit it by July 27th 2021. Please reach out to your school if there is not a link posted below.

ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION REGISTRATION

Beginning Winter 2019, HCPS will now offer online registration for all High School Athletic programs. The registration platform is entitled, FormRELeaf, and will allow you to register student athletes in a user-friendly and secure environment.

If you need help at any point of the registration process, you may call FormRELeaf Customer Support, Monday through Saturday at 844-367-6735

SPORTS SEASON START DATES

Athletics participation fees are required for all athletes. See High School Extracurricular Participation Fees for additional information.

Upper Chesapeake Sports Medicine - FREE Sports Physicals 

2020-2021 Practice start dates of the three sport seasons are:
  • Fall: Wednesday, August 12, 2020
  • Winter: Saturday, November 14, 2020
  • Spring: Monday, March 1, 2021

HCPS ATHLETIC TICKET PRICES

There has been an increase in unaccompanied students younger than high school age attending high school football games that has resulted in safety and security issues and concerns. In the interest of providing a safe and secure environment for all sporting event attendees, for the 2018-2019 and all subsequent school years, we will require that elementary and middle school students be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult for all football games. Unaccompanied children who are younger than high school age will not be admitted to the football games. Thank you for your understanding.

Ticket prices for high school athletic games 2019-2020:
  • Adults: $5
  • Students and children 7 years and older: $5
  • Children under 7 and Senior Citizens age 60 and above: FREE
Tournaments/Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference (UCBAC) Championships
  • Everyone: $5
State Playoff Games
  • Everyone: $6
Multiple Event Game Passes:
  • Students may purchase a pass for $20 that is valid for all games at their school only for the entire school year.
  • Adults may purchase a pass for $25 that is valid for any 10 games at their child's school during the school year.

A schedule of athletic contests for the current season can be accessed through County Sports Zone. You may view and print schedules for each school in all sports from this link. You may also register to receive email alerts if any changes are made to a school athletic schedule.
