Fallston High School Students Raise More Than $1,000 for Local Nonprofit Tabitha's House

Students in the Introduction to Foodservice Preparation and Hospitality classes at Fallston High School more than doubled their fundraising goal this spring, raising $1,010.39 for Tabitha's House through a cookie sale Community Service-Learning Project.

The effort was led by Family and Consumer Science Teacher Chef Michelle Richie, who challenged all Introduction to Foodservice Preparation and Hospitality classes to raise $500 through cookie sales. Students planned, prepared, and sold the cookies, applying real culinary and hospitality skills while giving back to the local community. The project surpassed its goal with 100% of proceeds donated to Tabitha's House.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, students presented the check to Tabitha's House Director Patrice Hooper and Coordinator Cassandra Rivera during a ceremony at the school. The fundraiser was suggested by student London Anderson, whose grandmother recommended Tabitha's House as the recipient.

Tabitha's House is a Harford County nonprofit whose mission is to serve low-income and at-risk families by providing basic needs including food, clothing, household items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and school supplies. The organization operates a thrift store, with proceeds supporting case management services and outreach to local families in need.
