Substitute Opportunities

Cafeteria Substitute
  • The Harford County Public Schools Food & Nutrition Services team is comprised of more than 450 dedicated professionals. We believe that a great program starts with a great staff. Across our 56 cafeteria locations, our team is made up of dedicated individuals, including family members and neighbors from the local community—who share a commitment to supporting our students every day. Many have children of their own in the school system and approach each child with the same care and attention they would offer their own.

Our strength lies in our emphasis on food quality and exceptional customer service. Together, these priorities create a welcoming and nourishing environment where students can relax and enjoy healthy meals during the school day.

Each cafeteria is staffed by trained food service professionals who are committed to excellence in school nutrition. Team members regularly participate in professional development through the School Nutrition Association and the Maryland School Nutrition Association (MDSNA), staying up to date on the latest trends and best practices in school food service. Credentialing and nationally recognized certifications are available and strongly encouraged for all roles—from directors and supervisors to cooks and servers.

Locally, the Harford County School Nutrition Association (HCSNA) supports our community through annual fundraising events that benefit holiday toy drives and provide back-to-school supplies for students in need throughout Harford County.

The computerized system randomly calls registered substitutes to fill vacant assignments.
