Departments and Offices
The Board of Education of Harford County, appointed by the Governor, is the policy-making
body for the Harford County Public Schools. The school system is under the day-to-day
oversight of the Superintendent of Schools who is responsible for both the instructional
and support functions of the system. A Chief Administrative Officer works with the
Superintendent to provide direct leadership for non-instructional functions of the
school system. A Central Instructional Leadership Team (CILT) provides overall guidance
for classroom instruction. Each school has a School Improvement Team made up of
representatives from various areas of the school and its community in finding ways
to improve the essential mission of the school system – student achievement.
